Hello girls! Whew, it’s good to be back!
It’s picnic season! Yahoo! Actually, I’m planning on treating myself to a picnic-for-one at the park sometime this next week…{it’s part of my “detox” from work week, but I’ll let you in on that some other time}. Who says picnics can’t be snazzy affairs complete with napkin rings? You know, those cute little jewelry-ish accessories for cloth napkins that typically only see the light of day on Thanksgiving?
Today I’ll show ya how to whip up some napkin rings {easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy} that are picnic perfect! NOTE: There are a few reasons as to why these are certifiably “picnic perfect.” Here’s the data: 1) these are SO easy to make that you can make tons {well, maybe not tons, but you know} in just one afternoon 2) the craft supplies needed are cheap {yes, the bulk of materials is found in items you usually throw away, so technically you’re being green – you go girl – making the earth a better place one craft project at a time =)} 3) these rings are intended for paper napkins {they are smaller rings than the traditional store-bought}, which makes them essentially perfect for an easy cleanup picnic environment. There you have it!
Now, let’s get busy…
What You Need:
small empty tape rolls (can be the plastic or cardboard variety) / various trims (ribbons, buttons, silk flowers, jute twine, feathers, beads, fabric scraps, vintage pins/brooches, etc.} / hot glue gun / glue stick
What You Do:
Try out various trims before you commit to the hot glue gun. I’ve made two varieties so far… On the first batch, I used a glue stick to add a printed ribbon to the plastic tape ring {make sure you fold the raw edge under to create a clean finish}. On the second batch, I wrapped the cardboard ring in jute twine; used glitter ribbon, vertically, as an accent; & topped it off with a miniature scrapbook saying.
The possibilities here are endless! I hope these will be the hit of your next picnic! If you try this tutorial {& find a moment}, let me know how they turn out! I love to hear from you!
