I Hate Goodbyes...

I've started & restarted this a dozen times now...  There's no good way to say it.  No words seem quite adequate.  But, here I go stumbling anyhow...

Thank you for being a reader & friend.  Thank you for every time you dropped in & let your eyes read one of my rambles.  Thank you for each & every comment.  This blog has been a blessing to me because of you.  I pray it blessed you in its own way, too.

Thank you, friend.

Like I said, I hate goodbyes, so instead of farewell, it's just off to a new adventure...

Love,
-Bess-

"The Knot: Outdoor Weddings" Book Review

The Knot: Outdoor Weddings
by Carley Rooney {& the editors of TheKnot.com}

There's something about getting married out in God's beautiful masterpiece of nature that has always intrigued me.  In The Knot: Outdoor Weddings book there is an abundance of beautifully photographed inspiration divided up by outdoor venue styles {seaside, ranch, garden, vineyard, estate, & city-scape}.  Each featured real wedding includes lots of exquisite pics {such as ceremony/reception space, cake, flowers, etc.} + details.  I have to admit, in this kind of book I mostly pour of the photos more so than the print.  There's also helpful tips & advice catered to the season & wedding venue.  The only thing I can't rave about with this book is that it features a couple of same-sex weddings.  As a follower of Christ, I believe marriage was created for man & woman alone.

Bookish Love,
-Bess-

P.S.: I received this book for free from Blogging for Books in exchange for my honest review.

Currently {This Is a Biggie}...

I'm engaged!

Since April, in fact!  I know, I keep secrets well.  Things will be changing & winding down here on Bess' Bag, & as much as it pains me to say goodbye, it's a bittersweet thing because it's a new beginning of a brand new chapter & there's beauty in that unknown blank story God already has every line to... & I trust Him in the writing of it.  I pray you do, too, for the one He's writing in your life.

Thank you for being here!  Stay tuned for a couple more posts before I officially say farewell.  I plan to leave the blog up for anyone who may want to look back over any of the DIYs, printables, style tips, godly girl talk, music, & random craziness these past 7 years of Bess' Bag have rendered.  Again, I thank you so much for being here.  I will miss you.

Love,

To My Father: A Poem

I am a little bird -
Do You see me when I fall?

Oh - that You do -
I am heart-wrenched & broken

And bid Your eyes turn from me.
But they stay -

And are grace eyes -
And I can scarcely breathe.
"Are not two sparrows sold for a penny?  Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father."
-Matthew 10:29

'Cause I Kill All the Plants {DIY}

Yes, I admit it.  I'm a cold-hearted, ruthless plant killer.  Well, actually, that's not really true.  I'm more of a "How could I have forgotten to water you?!" sap kneeling by the dying plant's grave in sorrow.  Either way, growing green things & I don't have the best track record.  That's where this DIY stems from {I couldn't resist}...

& everything you need can be found at the dollar store!
I found all the goods above at my local Dollar Tree!  All you need to do is fill your glass container with decorative pebbles {I actually only used 1 of the 2 bags, but depending on your container size you may need more}.
My faux succulents came inserted in black styrofoam in plastic pots, so I took them out, & snipped 'em down a bit so they'd fit in my glass bowl easier.  Then, I nestled them down in the pebbles.
While some don't do "faux" {which I totally get & would rather have a green thumb, by the way}, it's easier to sleep nights knowing these guys won't be my next victims.  You know the whole talking to plants thing {to encourage them to grow}?  It's still okay to talk to faux plants, right? =)
